This is only my second blog post. Still trying to get used to posting things. So I figured, why not start it off with a rant, because I like to complain. :)
Proverbs 3:5 says “Trust in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
So was lurking around on face book at some friends of my friends pages (forgive my illiteracy). I happened to stroll upon the page of a guy I went to high school with. At first I wasn’t so surprised at what I saw. He’d always talked about how he considered himself republican, as well as being LDS (Mormon), and in his ‘about me’ section he talked about how he was a ‘thinker’. So I looked at his wall, and noticed that he had posted the above Proverb. By posting this proverb, he managed to totally contradict himself. Now I know this isn’t really a big deal, it happens all the time. The thing that annoys me the most, is people like this who like to run around thinking they’re right, the type of people who are always on a high horse when it comes to these type of things. These are the type of people that need to be slapped in the face.
Let’s dissect this sentence:
- “Trust in the lord with all thy heart,…” okay, this isn’t nothing anyone’s heard before. But the problem is, that people blindly listen to this. For what reason? Why should anyone trust something that they clearly cannot prove exists? Why? Again, not a big deal.
- Then we have: “…and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Okay… The fact that this might have made sense to anyone even in the ‘biblical’ days baffles me. Really? Right from the start people took ignorance over instinct and knowledge?
Again, I’m not shocked by this, or the fact that people would believe such illogical things. I just wish that there weren’t so much ignorance in the world. You know you’re sure as hell not a ‘thinker’ when you actually give praise to a statement like this. People, please, let go of the ignorance. I know it’s nice, but I’d sure rather be a suffering thinker, rather than an ignorant sheep.
